The basic fee for the 2012 camp has been held at £295, to include accommodation, meals, tuition, outings and use of all equipment and music for the week of camp. Choristers usually also bring a few pounds as pocket money, which can be put in the Camp Bank on arrival and withdrawn daily. Older choristers attend for a reduced fee in return for undertaking additional responsibilities.
For choristers travelling long distances, the additional cost if they need to stay an extra night at the end of Camp is £12 to cover supper, overnight accommodation, supervision and breakfast. The Camp is happy to provide transport from/to Penrith station. Parents, families and friends are most welcome at the services, the Saturday evening concert and the final tea/prize-giving. There is a nominal charge of £2.50 for tickets to the Concert and to the Tea (with of course no charge to choristers attending Camp).
Choristers often receive financial help from their home churches. Scholarships or grants are also available through funds from the Friends of Morland, the Charlotte Bonham-Carter Trust and other sources. Any chorister keen to come but unable to manage the cost should apply, in confidence, to the organisers. It is our policy that no-one should be refused a place at Camp on financial grounds.
Early application is advised: sign up online or fill in the printed entry form.
The deposit is £25. There are no auditions. The Camp's policy on Access is available here.
A receipt will be issued. However, the character of the Camp depends on a graduated age range and an even mix of boys and girls, with a combination of new singers and people who have been before. Entries are therefore retained until late January, when those who have applied are told if a place has been allocated or if their names have been placed on a reserve list (if the latter, there may still be time to apply for a place at another RSCM Residential Course). The deposit is returnable up to March 31st.
A Nominal Roll is circulated a few weeks before Camp with full joining instructions (which may also be accessed here) and the balance of fee is due before Camp starts. |
